A tall, middle aged, solidly built man with quite pleasant features arrived in my office and after a quick polite greeting, he looked me directly in the eyes and simply asked: “Can you hypnotise me?”. “Yes” I replied. “Would you like to know who I am and how I work?” I asked him politely “or would you prefer to tell me why you need to be hypnotised?”. “Can you hypnotise me without telling me why?” my client quickly asked me, completely ignoring the first part of my question. With a huge smile on my face I eagerly replied: “Yes, I don’t need to know why you are here, because under hypnosis I can find out everything about you”. “I am a skeptic” my client proudly pronounced and impatiently added “I came here to see if you can hypnotise me” My smile brightened up and I simply said: “Let’s do it!”.
“Take a deep breath in and slowly, gently breathe out…” I started gently to lead my client to a blissful state of relaxation and in a few short minutes, he opened himself up and I allowed his mind to lead me to his intimate place of sanctuary. After exploring that place I firmly brought him back to a conscious state: “and finally number five”, I click my fingers “and you are fully alert and awake”. My client opened his eyes and his pleasant voice echoed in my office: “This is better than sex.” He quickly looked me directly in the eyes and with a pleased smile on his face that was blended with disbelief repeated “This is better than sex and I was skeptical”. “I love to work with skeptics” I quickly added and we started to laugh while my client tried to apologetically convince me in the sincerity of his statement, shaking his hand with me while booking his next session “let’s work together.”
