Do we have a choice towards our happiness and prosperity?

In a constantly moving and shifting world, everything and everyone is connected by the invisible source of energy that we all call differently depending on our personal preferences and/or the way that we are taught. And all these connections play a role in shaping our behaviour and our beliefs based on the direct and indirect influences that we encounter from our parents, family members, friends, culture, and social media.

Today, like never in the history of human kind and due to technological advancements, the world has become one big village. Therefore, like beauty and the best, social media has become the most prominent part of our lives. Basically, in a split second, we can connect nearly anywhere, anytime with anyone in the world. Through social media, we can laugh and joke, cry and laugh, support, and help each other while at the same time, we can share bitterness and all our frustration, hatred, and any other form of negativity. Logically, people who are close to us and those we communicate more with, have a greater chance to influence our life in a positive or negative way, including how we think, feel, and behave.

Unfortunately, for humans, the most powerful motivator is avoidance of fear and pain. Therefore, our brain is naturally drawn to negativity and consequently we process negative information faster. We only need less than 4 seconds for negative thoughts to become permanently embedded in our long-term memory. While in contrast, our long-term memory needs 12 seconds to process any positive thought. If for any reason, we become distracted in that process, this positive thought never becomes processed. We have about 60,000 thoughts per day and 95% of those thoughts are the same ones we had the day before, and about 80% are negative.
Facing this gloomy data, then the logical question arises: Do we have a choice towards our happiness and prosperity? According to research and my personal experiences with my clients and my personal life, I clearly can say this: Yes we do have a choice towards our happiness and our prosperity !!

Our happiness and prosperity is only a decision away !!

In saying so, we have to be aware that we cannot think the same habitual thoughts and create the life of our liking. Unfortunately, we are creatures of habits and we do not like change.

However, if we want to change our reality we have to change on a fundamental level our current personality. We have to change our current thoughts and emotions and the way how we act upon them, including current behaviours and habits. A scary perspective for many people. As creatures of habit, people are usually accustomed to their current personality that even a small glimpse of the possibility to change can become easily and furiously an unpleasant thought. Usually, they simply argue; “I am who I am and I don’t want to change”. Most of them only want to create a prosperous life with the same personality they have and it simply never works. In order to work, they have to become somebody else.

But if they are willing to change, they have to start to acquire new knowledge and to learn new information and skills in order to change their mind. They have to remember that the mind is a brain in action that needs constant and persistent stimuli. And if they do so, and if they are persistent in learning new skills, consequently, new thoughts will be created. Those thoughts will lead them to different experiences in which that process will encounter different emotions. And when thoughts and emotions become in harmony with each other, they will create a new habit. That new habit will create new lasting changes in their life that will lead them to a new life style and to the prosperity of their dreams.

What do you prefer, old and negative habitual thoughts or happiness and prosperity ?
